Compliance and PREA

The Cumberland County Jail continues to prove it's commitment to excellence through its many years of accreditation through the American Corrections Association (ACA). In partnership with the ACA, we share the common goal of improving the justice system by accepting only the highest standards in the services that we provide. The Corrections Department recently reached their 7th accreditation in January of 2023.

The Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) was passed by congress and signed into law by President Bush in 2003. The act supports the elimination, reduction, and prevention of sexual abuse and sexual harassment in correctional facilities across the country. This includes all federal, state, and county facilities.
