Chaplain

ChaplainReverend Jeffrey McIlwain,M.Div. (AME Zion Affiliate) oversees religious and faith based services for the inmates at the Cumberland County Jail. Volunteer Chaplains, and spiritual volunteers, from throughout the State of Maine, assist in religious services, religious studies, planned lessons, and discussion groups.

Support Partner

Chaplain McIlwain accommodates all Religious and Faith based requests which helps inmates remain connected to their respective practices. He provides spiritual services to the Cumberland County Staff as well as to the inmates. The Reverend is an integral support partner during times of great stress, and can work as a liaison between inmates and Corrections Officers.
 

Community Role

Chaplain McIlwain continues to work with faith groups throughout Cumberland County and the State of Maine receiving support from many faith groups which helps reduce recidivism by giving inmates a sense of belonging to their spiritual community.
