Volunteer at the Jail

The Cumberland County Jail is fortunate to serve a community that cares. We have several organizations that coordinate volunteers with the Jail to provide such services as continuing education, counseling and substance abuse counseling and religious/spiritual services.  Our goal is to help those remanded to our care to reclaim their lives and to break the cycle of incarceration.  But, we can't do it alone.  It takes the whole community to keep a community healthy.

HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER?
If you are interested in volunteering at the Jail and helping your community, contact one of our volunteer coordinators:

Religious and spiritual volunteers email Reverend Jeffrey McIlwain.

Programs volunteers (education, counseling, etc.) Email Lieutenant Kieran Sheehan

"Everybody can be great. Because anybody can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t have to make your subject and your verb agree to serve…. You don’t have to know the second theory of thermodynamics in physics to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”
~Martin Luther King, Jr.
