Release Time: 08:10
On the Above date and time, Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and Standish Fire/Rescue personnel responded to Richville Road in the area of Mosely Road, for a motor vehicle crash with the vehicle on fire. Other motorists on the scene were able to pull an elderly female from her vehicle before it became fully engulfed in flames.
The investigation determined that Myrtle Tripp (69) of Farmington was traveling southbound on Rte. 114 in Standish in her 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The area she crashed was closed down for construction and there was a detour just before that onto Mosley Road. Tripp initially drove through wooden barriers with orange signs marking a detour on that road and then struck a large concrete barrier. The vehicle then pushed the barrier approximately one hundred feet further down Rte. 114. Tripp’s vehicle came to rest on the barrier and resulted in severe front-end damage before becoming fully engulfed in flames.
Tripp was transported by Standish Rescue to Maine Medical Center for serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. This case remains under investigation.
