Incident Location:   Route 113, Baldwin, Maine

Release Date:        August 9, 2018

Release Time:       06:20

Incident Synopsis:

On the Above date and time Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office along with Standish and Baldwin Rescue personnel responded to Pequawket Trail at the intersection of Depot Road for a motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles.  The Cornish Fire Department responded with extrication tools to remove the operator from one of the vehicles who was trapped.  That driver suffered serious but non-life-threatening head injuries.

The  Investigation determined that a 16-year-old female from Parsonsfield was alone in her 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and failed to stop for the stop sign at the end of Depot Road.  She traveled through the intersection and into to the travel lane of Pequawket Trail. Her vehicle was struck by Raymond McKenney (60) of Westbrook who was traveling eastbound on Pequawket Trail. McKenney was alone in his 2012 Chevy truck and suffered only minor injuries. A life-flight helicopter was initially requested for the 16-year-old female, but weather prevented them from responding. She was transported to Maine Medical Center via Standish Rescue. It appears the juvenile female operator may have been distracted by an electronic device. She has since been released from the hospital.

The case remains under investigation.
