Event Synopsis:

On July 12, 2018, at approximately 20 minutes past midnight, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy Correia and Sergeant Ferriter were investigating an impaired driver. During their investigation, they learned that a male passenger in the vehicle identified as Felton Taylor Young (27 yoa) of Kissimmee, Florida was in possession of a stolen cell phone.

Mr. Young was sitting on the ground and appeared to be highly intoxicated. As the investigation progressed Mr. Young suddenly stood up and ran across Route 302 with Sergeant Ferriter and Sergeant Hovey following him.  Mr. Young crossed both lanes of Route 302 and ran towards a densely wooded area where Sergeant Ferriter attempted to take him into custody without success.  Mr. Young continued into the wooded area where he apparently tripped over a stump and struck his head on a rock.

Raymond Rescue subsequently transported Mr. Young to the Maine Medical Center for head and neck injuries. Mr. Young was admitted for treatment.

The incident remains under investigation.
