Hazardous Materials Spill in Cumberland County Jail Sallyport

Incident Synopsis:

 June 10, 2018, at 4:30 AM Tannis A. Goodson age 29 of Raymond, was arrested by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office charged with operating without a license, operating while under the influence of drugs, violating conditions of release and possession of a scheduled drug.

When arriving in the vehicle sally port at the Cumberland County Jail, the Deputy realized that Goodson had a substance believed to be Fentanyl in his possession and it had spilled on the back of the cruiser seat and floor. The cruiser was lockdown and secured and Goodson was transported to Maine Medical Center to be screened for an exposure. The Deputy was also evaluated and cleared and no Corrections Officers were exposed. 

The jail intake area is currently shut down until the vehicle and area can be decontaminated.
