Singe Vehicle Fatal Crash - Gray, ME

Incident Synopsis:       On May 8, 2018 at 0734 hours, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office responded to a motor vehicle crash on Route 26 in the Town of Gray.   Richard Shok, age 72 of Wells Maine was operating his 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser north when it left the roadway and struck a tree.

Deputies from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, as well as Gray Fire and Rescue responded to the crash. 


The cause of the crash is still under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Reconstruction Unit.  At this time, speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.


Mr. Shok was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced deceased at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle.  Next of kin has been notified.


Shock was operating a red 2005 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
