Security & Operations

Built in 1992, the Cumberland County Jail is a state of the art facility capable of housing all levels of security classifications for inmates. Our accreditation through the American Corrections Association further ensures our commitment to safely and humanely housing inmates until which time the court system determines they may leave.

The Cumberland County Jail employs over 190 Correctional Officers, staffing three shifts a day, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. All Corrections Officers must complete our rigorous Corrections Officer Academy which is modeled and approved by the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
